the messengers (kev beadle & darren moss) get busy re arranging and re jigging two classic tracks from back in the day. side 1 kicks off with creative love - a straight forward extended re arrangement of the excellent creative source version of ew&fs classic cant hide the love which really emphasises the brilliant chorus hook and creates a brilliant end of the night, hands in the air, sing a long vibe. on side 2 the boys get into jazz funk disco mode with an excellent re arranged and beefed up drum version of the 1978 classic six million steps by rahni harris re titled too many steps. both tracks have already been getting props and plays from the likes of gilles peterson, rainer truby, michael rutten, souled and nik weston.

shit hot release from the super consistent sex tags crew !! footnotes was the bergen, norway based label run by bjørn torske with only two releases, the late 1997 house classic and collectors item “haribo” by erot and the way too underrated dub-house 12” “farlig fiffus” by krisp. in 2002 the laqcuers for the third release were cut and all ready for the press, but for some obscure reason it never made it to the actual pressing. in the end lacquers were demolished and the mastertape got lost. several years later the mastertape showed up in a tower of old tapes and mastercuts. recovered by the sex tags mania crew, now seven years after it’s origibnal releasedate, doc l junior’s two classic and brilliant house and disco tracks are ready for a proper release. as a tribute, a longing for old days, sex tags mania will releases footnotes 3 in april 2009..

asd008 sees the return of alex krueger and a welcome one at that! this oneÆs 5 tracks deep (including a digital exclusive) and includes a pair of fine remixes from londoner-in-berlin, mark henning, ôblasted bitchö is tigerskin at his best. the title cut is a feast of sonic trickery, with sounds playing off each other beautifully to create a wide, dense soundscape which, paired with clipped percussion, clever dancefloor arrangement, evil laugh & crude vocal sample this one delivers tough. henning, a man known for his abilities with sound design himself, takes a darker route with his interpretation which, while still driving, is more of a heads down late night affair û riddled with oddball delays and some unnerving vox efx. ôwhat theö takes a turn to the darkside, moody, sharp, reveb laden and pulsing, the track is real heavy business watch out for that unholy belgian hardcore synth riff a la ômentasmö, thereÆs a real æmomentÆ in there. to round off the original cuts. responseö continues seeing tigerskin provide a straighter groove but one which displays some sterling keyboard work and strong break. finally, henning provides another remix of the title track as the digital only addition all too important these days. futuristic deep, tech-house is about as close as a description anyone needs for this superb final piece of an equally superb package.

upyours comes crashing back to the drum and bass scene like bad smell you cant wash away. after 5 years wandering around the wilderness gary banton is back too, with more dancefloor fodder for dubplate hungry djs. his years of absence definitely havent mellowed this almost reclusive producer and single mum syndrome sees him back on blistering form, sticking two fingers up at all his critics who said he wouldnt return.

nice price deal !!! this is the first in an occasional series of dissident special projects. >i was recently asked to do a remix for a brand new tune by italo legend alexander robotnick< the result was 15 minutes of 808, burbling acid bass, pro one and heavily effected chicago style spoken vocals which was deemed too long to fit on the commercially released 12 so the label (this is music - run by simian mobile disco) thought it would be a good idea to release a very limited number of 12s as a promo only. so thats what this is, a joint dissident/this is music release of a remix that wont ever be available on any other vinyl issue. limited to 200 copies, one sided

detroit disco is a brand new label which combines detroit techno with some old and recognizable disco arpeggios. this first release on detroit disco is a two track 12 inch with the title track hands up by g. hands up by g is a rocking floor-filler based track on a catchy arpeggio melody that reminds a bit like donna summer. filtering up and down giving you an optimal dj friendly old skool crowd pleaser. on the b side you will find the economist remix which has a more neo techno approach. with some devilish sequencing and filtering this sounds a little like some work the economist did on lessismorecordings 004 with the track too much but that is why we asked him to remix

larissa kapp was born in some idyllic concrete jungle city called asbest in russia, where she spent the first ten years of her life in a minimal, urbanely grey surrounding. there were not too many things, to keep her away from nerdish piano playing, until her family went to germany. there, after years of piano, singing and dance lessons (ballet, jazz, modern), she started her studies on a music high school, which, to be honest, wasnt exactly, what she wanted to learn.

john digweed has already christened her >the queen of dark house< and there s certainly a true note or two there, but moudaber s remixes for the likes of xpress2 or defected s shapeshifters also demonstrate a wider crossover appeal and a simple glance at the last djs regularly name. checking her in their charts lends reveals a who s who in techno. enjoy the first release of nicole on yellow tail, the cat loves it, hope you too!
